Manuka Doctor Arena

Tennis Auckland is undertaking a significant redevelopment of the Manuka Doctor Arena (formerly the ASB Tennis Arena) in Auckland’s Parnell. The project aims to expand the venue’s centre court and spectator capacity, and crucially, introduce a roof to create a fully weatherproof stadium. By eliminating disruptions caused by unpredictable weather, previously forcing matches indoors without spectators, the upgraded arena will deliver a consistent, world-class experience for players and fans, rain or shine.

The new roof, a cost-effective and lightweight solution designed by Jasmax, will be elevated above the stands to maintain natural light, airflow and views of the skyline. It will shield players and spectators from rain, glare and extreme heat, while allowing the ASB Classic to maintain its status as an outdoor event. This enhancement secures Auckland’s position on the global tennis stage and safeguards one of New Zealand’s most valuable sporting assets, which generates millions for the local economy each year.

Beyond tennis, the redevelopment will accommodate a wide range of events, including concerts, theatre performances, conferences, exhibitions, and other sports such as boxing and beach volleyball. Seating capacity for tennis matches will increase from 3,100 to 3,500.
