Jasmax is leading the design of Eden Park 2.1, which will enhance Aotearoa New Zealand’s ability to host major global events. The approach adapts existing infrastructure and leverages the City Rail Link (CRL) to significantly improve access and the fan experience, delivering valuable social, cultural and economic benefits.
Endorsed by Auckland Council in March 2025, the sustainable and cost-effective redevelopment will be delivered in three stages. Stage 1 will accommodate sports, concerts, and cultural events. The fan experience will be optimised with retractable seating that allows the field to change in size and shape, accommodating a full cricket oval and bringing fans closer to the sidelines of rugby and football matches. Seated capacity will increase to 50,000, and concert capacity to 70,000. Hospitality offerings will be enhanced, and interactive fan zones will be introduced.
Stage 2 involves redeveloping the upper North Stand to mirror the South Stand, with the potential addition of a hotel, elevating Eden Park as a full-scale venue. Bringing Eden Park in line with the world’s most versatile stadiums, Stage 3 completes the transformation with the installation of a retractable roof, providing an all-weather venue that protects fans from the elements and ensures certainty of play.
