Jasmax appoints Tim Melville as Technical Specialist
Jasmax is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Melville as Technical Specialist, reinforcing the practice’s commitment to design excellence and technical innovation across all architecture and design projects.
With more than 30 years of architectural experience, Melville brings strong business acumen, broad industry knowledge and a proven track record in delivering large-scale, complex developments across both the public and private sectors. In his role within Jasmax’s Knowledge & Innovation Team, he will provide technical leadership to project teams across Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia, ensuring robust quality assurance and best-practice design, documentation and delivery processes.

Jasmax’s CEO Matthew Glubb commented: “Tim’s industry connections, understanding of procurement, and proven ability to uphold rigorous design standards will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen our technical capabilities and deliver excellence for our clients.”
Tim Melville stated: “Joining Jasmax is an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that raise the bar for quality, value and performance. I’m particularly focused on ensuring lessons learned in the field drive continuous improvement, and on balancing design ambition with practical, commercially sound solutions that deliver long-lasting value for clients and communities.”
Melville has made a significant contribution to New Zealand’s built environment through senior roles beyond large architecture practices. His experience includes serving as Chief Advisor – Design Assurance at the Ministry of Education, where he led the national design review team for school projects. He is a past President and Board Chair of Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects and served as a member of the steering group for the Construction Sector Accord. He was a Principal at Warren and Mahoney and co-founded RTA Studio in 1999.
Melville’s diverse portfolio spans masterplanning, education, medium- and high-density housing, commercial and civic sectors. Passionate about tertiary education projects, he has contributed to major developments such as Waipārūrū Hall for the University of Auckland and various educational facilities for AUT. His portfolio also includes the Ironbank office building – the first commercial building to achieve a 5 Green Star As-Built rating, and the highly complex, base-isolated Heke Rua Archives New Zealand facility.
Based in Jasmax’s Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland studio, Melville will work closely with Head of Knowledge & Innovation Stephen Thurman. This industry-leading team leads the practice’s technical advisory function, overseeing quality assurance programmes, providing technical delivery support, and driving education, training, and specialist research and innovation initiatives. Comprising experts in sustainable design, legal compliance, digital delivery, safety and a range of technical disciplines, the team ensures Jasmax can advise clients on quality, compliance, risk management, and innovation pathways.
