Stephen Thurman

Stephen Thurman is a Principal and founding member of Jasmax’s Knowledge & Innovation (K&I) team. Since joining the practice in 2008, Stephen has been instrumental in building K&I into the industry-leading team it is today – establishing the quality assurance programmes, technical delivery frameworks, and research and innovation initiatives that underpin Jasmax’s design and delivery excellence.
An architect with over 30 years’ experience, Stephen has deep knowledge of materials, products and buildability, along with commercial insight into the design, construction and regulatory controls involved in delivering projects successfully. He has contributed significantly to the evolution of low-carbon and mass timber technologies appropriate to the seismic and environmental conditions of Aotearoa New Zealand. Stephen is a member of the Society of Construction Law, an NZRAB Assessor, and a regular contributor to NZIA, MBIE and BRANZ workshops and submissions.
