Fast-tracking construction and energy efficient design
Behind the undulating façade, which is inspired by the Avon River, lies a simple, regular structural grid that enabled extensive prefabrication of the superstructure, accelerating the construction timeline. The curves of the façade, which give it a lightweight, ethereal quality, are achieved using a standardised, repeating profile for simplicity.
Extensive modelling was undertaken to optimise the performance of the façade and reduce internal cooling loads. Low‑E glazing, combined with the building’s distinctive aqua-tinted glass fins, reduce the overall heating and cooling requirements by 70 – 80%, optimising occupant comfort, solar gain and energy use. The mechanical systems are also designed for energy efficiency, with heat exchange on both the fresh air and air conditioning systems to lower energy costs for tenants.
