Claire O'Shaughnessy
Claire O’Shaughnessy is an Associate Principal with a strong commitment to environmental and social regeneration. As a Senior Landscape Architect, Claire focuses on the design and delivery of large-scale public projects and urban environments that require a deep understanding of the surrounding landscape and cultural heritage.
Claire’s commitment to continuously evolving her practice is exemplified through her engagement with mana whenua, to understand how regenerative processes can be adapted to honour our collective commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This understanding allows her to incorporate sustainable and bicultural practices into her design approach, resulting in projects that have a deep richness.
Claire has recently been focusing on complex landscape masterplanning projects, including the Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei Masterplan, which establishes a holistic multi-generational vision for how all whānau could be connected to and live in harmony with the land, alongside the Wesley West masterplan for Kāinga Ora and two Tāmaki neighbourhood masterplans for Kāinga Ora and the Tāmaki Regeneration Company. Passionate about using landscape architecture as a tool to foster community, support wellbeing, and nurture the environment, Claire’s portfolio also includes The Pā and Tauranga Campus for the University of Waikato and streetscape projects in Tauranga and Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
Claire champions the value of an integrated design offering as a means to deliver outcomes that are greater than the sum of their parts. By approaching projects holistically, she ensures that her work has a lasting positive effect on communities and the environment.
