Moorebank Lifestyle Precinct
A visionary sporting and leisure precinct for southwest Sydney
Connecting with the local community and creating a hub for athletes
The concept plan guiding development of Moorebank Lifestyle Precinct establishes a vision for a state-of-the-art aquatic, social, cultural, and recreational precinct designed to connect with the local community. Jasmax developed the guiding concept which Liverpool City Council is using to support engagement with the community on the future of this significant amenity.
The centrepiece of the design is an indoor Aquatic and Leisure Centre located on Heathcote Road, also designed to support council services such as a library, childcare facilities, and other amenities. The precinct may also include upgrades to existing sports club facilities and cricket oval, including installation of new hybrid/synthetic sports fields. The Aquatic and Leisure Centre is proposed to integrate with the surrounding sporting facilities and maximise connections with the sporting, recreation, and open spaces.
The concept plan also includes provision for a walking and cycle trail from Heathcote Road, providing access from the neighbouring retirement living areas into the park, and upgrades to Harris Creek, which runs adjacent to the site. Connections between the Moorebank Lifestyle Precinct and the nearby Holsworthy Railway Station and Kokoda Oval have also been identified, in order to provide intuitive access and connectivity into and around the neighbourhood.
The Moorebank Lifestyle Precinct seeks to become the best sporting precinct in southwest Sydney, and a place not only for budding and elite athletes, but also for children and families, spectators, and the local community. The key moves within the concept plan seek to activate and connect the site to the wider community.
