The purpose of communication is to empower. My goal is to help our clients feel empowered to use design as a tool for change. By sharing our most important design stories, we hope to show how it is possible to lead the way in designing a low carbon future that is inspired by our people and our place.”

Now Head of Communications and on the Executive Leadership Team, Roberta has been employed at Jasmax since 2014. With a career spanning design, specialist briefing and managerial roles in architecture, Roberta is now directing her expertise into communication and public relations. She hopes to use her position to elevate design discourse and connect Jasmax more meaningfully with Aotearoa New Zealand’s most significant decision makers and their key stakeholders.

With previous experience including interim co-leadership of the Jasmax Health team and technical briefing on projects including AUT’s Ngā Wai Hono and Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum, Roberta has not only been an integral part of many award-winning projects, but has also made a significant contribution to developing the Jasmax bicultural strategy. In particular, she was instrumental in the development of the Jasmax Manifesto, a foundational document guiding the practice’s vision for the future.

Prior to joining Jasmax, Roberta was employed as a professional teaching fellow at the School of Architecture in the National Institute of Creative Arts and Industries (NICAI) at the University of Auckland. She also spent four years in London working for TP Bennett Architects.
