Matt Watson

Matt Watson is an Associate Principal in Jasmax’s Melbourne studio, bringing extensive design and delivery experience across the health, tertiary education, government, legal and community and cultural sectors. 

A registered architect in Victoria, Australia and New Zealand, Matt has led significant master planning and feasibility work for some of Australia’s most complex institutional projects, with a particular focus on the health and tertiary education sectors.

Before joining Jasmax, Matt was an education and science sector champion at architecture firm Hassell. During his tenure, he worked on a number of significant projects in Australia, including redevelopment, master plans and feasibility studies for the University of Melbourne’s eight campuses and master planning for The Royal Melbourne and Royal Women’s hospitals.

His portfolio also includes redevelopment strategies for the University of Tasmania Sandy Bay Campus, a strategic asset feasibility study for The Australian Ballet, and the Holtze Community Health Precinct master plan in the Northern Territory.

Matt holds a Master of Architecture (Distinction) from Victoria University of Wellington, alongside a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Canterbury. 

He is a national committee member of Architecture with Pride in Australia, and brings a genuine commitment to building enduring relationships with clients and communities across both Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
