James Pearse is an Associate Principal with over 20 years’ architectural experience across a variety of building typologies, including healthcare, mixed-use, education, and commercial. His coordination skills and ability to overcome complex challenges are instrumental in ensuring the successful realisation of clients’ visions and project aspirations.

Prior to joining Jasmax, James spent over four years as the Project Architect responsible for the design and delivery of Te Pae (Christchurch Convention and Exhibition Centre) at global architecture studio Woods Bagot. This role demonstrates his ability to deliver both design and delivery excellence in a highly challenging environment, requiring a deep understanding of complexity, coordination, and innovation. James also previously spent more than a decade in Melbourne working for leading design studios such as Lyons, ARM and NH Architecture.

Now focused on delivery excellence at Jasmax, James was the Project Architect for Te Rangihīroa, a 450-bed student accommodation facility that forms the first purpose-built college for the University of Otago in 50 years. In this role, he utilised technical expertise and an understanding of the student accommodation typology to navigate project challenges and achieve high-quality resolution.
