Jasmax welcomes Matt Watson as Associate Principal
Jasmax is delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Watson as an Associate Principal in its Melbourne studio, strengthening the practice’s growing presence in Australia. A registered architect in Victoria, Australia and New Zealand, Watson brings a broad range of experience spanning education, health, government, commercial, community and cultural sectors.
Based in Jasmax’s Melbourne studio, Watson will be supporting Principals Michelle Harris, Nick Gamble and Jeff Gabriel to expand the studio’s multi-disciplinary, multi-sector portfolio, while also leading projects.
Previously an education and science sector champion at architecture firm Hassell, Watson has led significant master planning and feasibility work across health and tertiary education sectors.
His previous projects include master planning for the University of Melbourne’s eight campuses and The Royal Melbourne and Royal Women’s hospitals. His portfolio also includes redevelopment strategies for the University of Tasmania Sandy Bay Campus, a strategic asset feasibility study for The Australian Ballet, and the Holtze Community Health Precinct master plan in the Northern Territory.

Watson holds a Master of Architecture (Distinction) from Victoria University of Wellington, alongside a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) from the University of Canterbury. Prior to training as an architect, he practised as a solicitor in New Zealand and is admitted as Barrister and Solicitor of High Court of New Zealand.
