Building better WASH facilities for 30,000 students across 45 Fijian schools
The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT) and Fijian Government are working together to improve health and education in local communities through the Fiji-Australia Vuvale Partnership.
In line with the partnership, the Fiji Social Infrastructure Program will deliver new and upgraded Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in 45 schools across the Suva-Nausori corridor.
Jasmax is proudly collaborating with Abt Global and local design partner Architects Pacific to support the WASH initiative, developing a flexible “kit-of-parts” design that can be adapted to each school’s individual needs – whether it’s upgrading existing facilities or building new ones.
The project will enhance learning for over 30,000 students by delivering safe, accessible, and cyclone-resilient washroom facilities aligned with the Fiji Ministry of Education’s WASH standards.
Sydney-based Jasmax Principal Chris Rogers stated: “The number of students this initiative will impact is significant. Providing upgraded facilities will improve health and wellbeing, support consistent attendance – particularly for girls – and help create healthier, more inclusive schools where every student can succeed. We’re very proud to be supporting this initiative with our local partners Architects Pacific.”
