What we offer
Remuneration and profit sharing:
Share ownership: Shareholding is offered in incremental steps to titled employees, providing an opportunity for our staff to share the financial success of the business.
Salaries and incentive schemes: As part of our annual pay equity review, we participate in and benchmark salaries against NZIA’s Remuneration Survey. We aim to pay in the upper quartile of the architecture industry and have profit share and performance-based incentive schemes in place.
Paid overtime: In the instances where we are occasionally faced with tight deadlines and you are asked to work overtime, you will be compensated for the additional hours worked.
Development
Professional development opportunities:
Graduate support and Continued Professional Development (CPD): Among a wide range of training programmes targeted at developing skills, we offer a comprehensive programme of on-site CPD talks and events to support maintaining professional registration. We also offer a mentoring programme, site safe training, health and safety training, and in-house Revit trainers and BIM managers, to support the development and growth of expertise among staff.
Registration pathway: We carefully select project work to ensure our graduates receive varied experience to support the registration process. We also facilitate study groups, offer study leave and will cover registration fees in full.
Career progression: We have a promotion pathway in place and encourage employees to upskill and develop into specialist roles that suit their interests and expertise.
Work-life Balance
A supportive workplace culture, focused on work-life balance:
Culture: We have a strong culture of collaboration and inclusivity across disciplines and practice groups, where you will be encouraged to share your point of view. Once you have joined Jasmax, you will be gifted with Te Hau Ora (pictured), a koauau signifying the value of your contribution to our collective endeavour.

Flexible working: We value personal wellbeing and recognise work-life balance is especially important. We support all manner of working arrangements, including part-time hours, flexible start and finish times and working from home one day per week.
Parental leave: We allow employees to take extended parental leave and offer individualised return to work plans, including phased return, reduced hours and additional flexibility.
Equal opportunities employer: Jasmax is an advocate for equal employment opportunities. We provide a supportive, stable, and engaging environment for all, ensuring every employee receives fair treatment and equal opportunities. We have a number of recruitment, promotion, training and development opportunities, and reward and recognition practices all aimed at building a more diverse and inclusive workplace. Our executive team has equal representation of men and women.
In 2023, Jasmax achieved the Rainbow Tick certification. This certification endorses the practice’s understanding and welcoming approach to sexual and gender diversity, as well as a commitment to creating spaces that value diversity and inclusion and are free from discrimination and harassment, not just for our people but for all people. All qualified applicants will be considered for employment regardless of age, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, ethnicity, religion, or disability.
Promotion and industry recognition: We actively promote the expertise and support the development of thought leadership across our team by encouraging participation in external forums, such as industry events and media profiling opportunities.
Expertise
Specialist knowledge and expertise:
Bicultural design: We are actively deepening and amplifying cultural design practice in Aotearoa New Zealand, and in 2015 formed our Waka Māia group to provide an authentically Māori design voice within Jasmax. The team provide skills, integrity, and expertise in the context of tikanga Māori design and engagement processes to the benefit of our practice and projects.
Sustainability: As industry leaders in sustainable design, we have formed both an in-house green team, and a carbon working group to champion sustainable, innovative principles across our practice, projects, and the wider design industry.
Knowledge & Innovation (K&I): Our K&I team draws together leading specialists across the areas of contractual support, technical delivery, sustainability, technology and digital innovation, and BIM processes. The team captures and shares construction and detailing knowledge across project teams; investigates, tests and implements new processes and technologies across the business, and provides guidance and technical advice to reinforce our quality assurance processes and support designers to establish robust design solutions.
