State of the art, scientific innovation
The Boyle Building incorporates many innovations in laboratory and teaching facilities.
Teaching and public facilities are located on lower levels of the campus and research laboratories are on upper floors of the refurbished buildings. Cross-pollination between research streams is facilitated by improved physical connection, and shared breakout spaces.
State of the art laboratories and a wide variety of lecturing, teaching and seminar spaces ensure the campus a durable and rewarding existence. Typically, the Grafton Campus contains laboratories to Physical Containment PC1, PC2 and PC3 and ISO Class 5, 6, 7 and 8 cleanrooms. Each space allows for different processes with different risks, often requiring unique and innovative solutions. The functions at the campus necessitate highly serviced systems. The infrastructure is robust and reliable and the buildings could be adapted with minimal, if any, need to increase base load plant or mains services. The MEP services have the capacity and flexibility to suit most changing research streams.
