Senior Promotions Announced 2022
We are pleased to announce the promotions of two Principals and seven Project Directors across the practice.
Following Elisapeta Heta’s recent promotion, Andy Brangwin and Evan Williams will further strengthen Jasmax’s senior leadership by stepping into Principal roles within our Auckland studio.
In addition, Andrew Grant, Barbara van Zyl, Jonathan Ash, Kimberly Browne, Martin Walton, Rebecca Irwin, and Ronald Chin have all been promoted to a newly established Project Director role within Jasmax, which recognises senior staff who have a proven reputation in the successful delivery of large, complex projects.

These appointments take effect from August 2022. Our Associate Principal, Senior Associate and Associate promotions will be announced shortly.

Principals
Andy Brangwin – Andy is a Senior Urban Designer with more than 15 years’ professional experience in the built environment. His background in architecture and project management has seen him work across varying project scales from masterplanning and the design of large mixed used and tenure schemes in the UK, China and Canada, to the delivery of bespoke residential architecture in New Zealand. Andy works alongside large landholders to unlock the value of their projects, while supporting their ongoing commitment to existing local communities.
Evan Williams – Evan is a Senior Landscape Architect with extensive experience in the design and delivery of urban realm projects of varying scale and complexity. As a project leader, Evan enjoys working collaboratively with client and consultant teams to deliver exceptional outcomes on time and within budget. Having completed a diverse range of projects, Evan has developed the ability to balance design aspirations with stakeholder inputs and technical requirements.
Project Directors
Andrew Grant – With over 35 years’ architectural experience, Andrew has spent the last 14 of those specialising in education projects at Jasmax. His rich experience has seen him deliver large secondary schools and individual learning blocks that have marked significant moments in the development of learning environments in New Zealand.
Barbara van Zyl – Barbara is a highly experienced and talented architect, who has worked on projects of varying scales and typologies, both in New Zealand and South Africa. She has a hands-on approach and enjoys performing the full spectrum of roles from project inception through the design stages to implementation and delivery on site.
Jonathan Ash – Jonathan has specialist expertise in mass rapid transit projects, having spent most of his career focused on passenger rail systems. Jonathan’s technical and delivery knowledge is balanced with his pragmatic sensitivity to public realm and aesthetic considerations of transit station architectural design.
Kimberly Browne – Kimberly has a passion for well-crafted design projects, with experience across Australia and New Zealand. Her detailed construction knowledge and ability to co-ordinate complex engineering requirements into the architectural fabric of a building culminated in her role as the primary Delivery Architect for the highly specialised B405 Faculty of Engineering for the University of Auckland.
Martin Walton – Martin is one of Jasmax’s most experienced Senior Technical Architects, who works across complex transport and infrastructure projects. With nearly 30 years’ architectural experience, Martin has been responsible for the delivery of many high-profile small- and large-scale projects throughout New Zealand. He employs a highly collaborative approach to the design process and encourages a wide range of input, not only from the project team, but also technical consultants, artists and local community groups.
Rebecca Irwin – Rebecca is an exceptionally capable architect with 20 years' experience in design, coordination, management, and project leadership. Rebecca firmly believes the design process is enhanced through the integration of multiple perspectives and open, constructive collaboration. Rebecca also works directly with clients and stakeholder groups to develop client briefs into successful and architecturally exciting schemes.
Ronald Chin – Ronald has been at Jasmax since 2002 and has a strong grasp of design, management and construction processes, from the initial client briefing through to design development and construction completion. Ronald has worked on a variety of complex, large-scale projects, and has contributed to the delivery of various award-winning buildings. His broad base of work includes commercial, healthcare, education, heritage and retail projects in New Zealand and the UK.
