Jasmax designs a gallery layout, fit for the return of Aotearoa Art Fair
Jasmax is proudly celebrating its fourth year as the design partner of Aotearoa Art Fair (AAF). The five-day event, held at The Cloud in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, will showcase the works of over 180 artists, represented by 41 galleries. Visitors can expect to wander, pause and admire an array of exhibitions and events in a celebration of the visual arts. Each year, Jasmax strives to enhance the experience of AAF, providing a premium exhibitor environment which Aotearoa’s leading galleries return to each year.
“We are very excited to be opening Aotearoa Art Fair 2022. Due to the reopening of the borders, we have welcomed international galleries and visitors back to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, alongside the locals we saw at the 2021 Fair,” say co-directors Stephanie Post and Hayley White. “This is also the first edition to be held under the new name (formerly known as Auckland Art Fair). The change to Aotearoa Art Fair signifies that the event speaks of and for the whole country, showcasing art from the Pacific Rim, including Australia, Southeast Asia, North and South America, and the Pacific Islands, as seen through the lens of Aotearoa New Zealand.”
As the design partner of AAF, Jasmax develops the internal layout, selects an eye-catching colour identity, and evolves the signage strategy. This year, Architectural Graduate Kelly Thomas-Raela has designed a highly functional, malleable and complimentary internal layout that showcases the array of art forms.
“This opportunity to design the exhibition space for Aotearoa Art Fair has been wonderful,” shares Kelly. “I worked with the AAF team to create a balance of flexible gallery and breakout areas, allowing visitors the space to observe and appreciate the works of art, get up close to appreciate the details or take a break to confer with friends.”
AAF’s interior layout encourages visitors to follow their noses, guided by the exhibition spaces, which have each been tailor-made to the galleries’ requirements to ensure the best possible arrangement for the artworks. From this landmark location overlooking Waitematā Harbour, visitors can relax in the sculpture garden, take advantage of the in-house food and beverage options, or come and go as they please to experience downtown and the surrounding amenities.
Aotearoa Art Fair 2022 will be held at The Cloud, Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, taking place from 16 - 20 November.
