The Crossing

    Completion date
    Architecture, Landscape Architecture

A key element of the overall Highbrook masterplan, The Crossing brings a range of retail and service providers together in one complex, along with public areas and extensive parking.

Stage one of The Crossing precinct is now complete, comprising three buildings around a podium base, linked by an open-air plaza. Each of the buildings has its own unique façade; the office building featuring hexagonal 3D aluminium solar screens, the curved icon building being wrapped with glass and the Quest Hotel apartment building utilising basalt rock from the local landscape.

Both buildings and landscaping are designed to maximise sightlines out to distant landmarks, including Mt Wellington. In particular, the curved roof of the icon building floats on glass panels and features a huge floor-to-ceiling window with stunning views across the Tamaki Estuary.

The design responds to the overall Highbrook masterplan, bringing people and commerce together to create an entire business community in one vibrant and prominent location.
