Tailorspace is one of the first businesses to open in the 151 Cambridge Terrace building. This new workplace is home to Tailorspace and the Ben Gough Family Office, encompassing a group of companies involved in investment, property development and construction.
The brief was to create a contemporary interpretation of a boutique investment bank for an established family business. The team’s challenge was to create a design that maximised use of the 180sqm floor-plan within the premise’s irregular floor-plate shape. An oak wall element organises the spaces, balancing public and private functions and acting as an
informal gallery for display. The timber wall seamlessly integrates doors to private spaces and becomes a louvered screen allowing visibility from the work zone into the entry. Behind this wall are a pair of offices and a small board room, with the staff work space placed with the best light and views of the Southern Alps.
Versatility of function was high on Tailorspace’s agenda and the interface between open plan work zone and office space is cleverly blurred.
