Tim Robinson is a Principal at Jasmax with over 25 years’ experience in architecture and urban design in the UK and Aotearoa New Zealand. Born in India and raised in the UK, Tim’s career was sparked by observing how people settle in their unique landscapes. He is passionate about improving cities, with a social, cultural, environmental, and regenerative lens on planning, design, and delivery.

With academic training in architecture and planning, Tim started his career in architecture consultancy, working on diverse commercial, healthcare, and retail projects. He later practised as a UK-registered Architect employed within a large non-profit, mixed-tenure housing organisation that developed urban regeneration projects providing social housing, specialist / supported housing, and market-rate build-to-rent homes. These housing projects involved neighbourhoods, community engagement and city-shaping urban design considerations.

Since moving to New Zealand in 2008, Tim has drawn on his private and public sector experience to work across a range of project stages and scales from strategy to delivery. He provides design advice, and leads city-building planning and design projects, including transport infrastructure, mixed-use intensification on main streets, green infrastructure, healthcare masterplans, and development feasibility studies.

Tim aims to create connected, people-centric communities and cities for a post-carbon future, reflecting Aotearoa New Zealand’s unique culture. He enjoys working on an inter-disciplinary, collaborative basis with teams that blend architecture, landscape, planning and engineering to produce distinctive urban places and benefits.
