Richard is an Associate Principal at Jasmax, with a particular focus on the management of education-related projects from the Christchurch Studio. He has an in-depth knowledge of the challenges facing the Christchurch rebuild and is passionate about applying quality design and urbanism to create a vibrant city for the people of Canterbury and New Zealand.
Within his architectural work, Richard enjoys the challenge of responding to a project’s place, region, culture and climate, ensuring the final design solution is firmly grounded in the local context. He is committed to architectural excellence but blends this pursuit with astute commercial understanding, having been a director of his former firm in Christchurch for four years.
Richard’s communication and interpersonal skills are well suited to projects involving stakeholder and community briefing and consultation. He has considerable management and project management experience, enabling him to pull large teams together towards a common goal.
