Jasmax Interior Designer Meg Rowntree took part in Lifewise's annual fundraisder, The Big Sleepout, this Thursday 2 July. We'd like to say a big thank you to all who supported Meg in her fundraising efforts, and we're pleased to congratulate her on beating her personal fundraising target, reaching a total $4,976 raised, for the charity.

The annual fundraiser is an initiative which “shines a spotlight on homelessness in NZ, sharing stories from real people about what life is like when you have run out of options.”

Meg is the fourth Jasmax staff member to have taken part in the Sleepout; following in the footsteps of Principals Marko den Breems, Richard Harris and Nick Moyes as those who have walked the ‘cardboard carpet’ paving Auckland’s streets. She will be joining over 130 other business, community and political leaders as they settle down with just a sleeping bag and cardboard mattress for the night.

We’re hoping to help Meg raise as many donations as possible to contribute to this initiative, in which every dollar is contributed to solutions for the immediate and long-term needs of the homeless.

Homelessness is a growing issue nationally in New Zealand, with thousands sleeping rough, or living vulnerably in unsafe or unsuitable accommodation. This fundraiser not only raises awareness of a very real, and sometimes overlooked, issue within our community, but also raises money to actually do something about it.

As a community-based organisation, Lifewise takes a no-holds-barred approach to tackling homelessness, providing ‘wrap-around’ support to help people get back on their feet. Hosting this event on the streets of Auckland, their aim is to tackle the issue head on with people at every level of influence within the city.

Jasmax is a big supporter of this fundraiser, and are proud that we are in a position to be able to help raise awareness of both it, and the work that Lifewise do.
